...And This Shit Right Here!

I don’t deal with politics.  I’m not interested in debating with anyone who should be president and why.  No one can convince me to vote for anybody other than the candidates themselves.  I’m not going to try and convince anyone else.  I show my support by taking my black ass to the polls.  This post isn’t designed to do anything but bring attention to something I find appalling.  I can’t sit back and not speak on this.

““I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I’m going to stop other things. I like PBS. I love Big Bird. I actually like you [Jim Lehrer, host of PBS NewsHour] too. But I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for things we don’t need.””  Source: Wall Street Journal

Apparently, Mitt Romney wants to get rid of PBS in some retarded effort to balance the federal budget.  What is PBS costing the government, 0.012% of the budget?  It’s also funded by private donations.   Mitt, you should have quit while you were ahead.  You might not have realized the extent of your callous statement, but you will.  Oh boy, you will.

I’m very upset.  In fact, I'm pissed off.  I’m a proud, glorious Black Girl Nerd who sucked the teat of PBS in my formative years.  I was raised on Sesame Street, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Reading Rainbow, The Electric Company, 3-2-1-Contact!, Captain Kangaroo, Ghostwriter, Lamb Chop, The Puzzle Place, Masterpiece Theater, Nova, Dr. Who, Mystery!, The Joy of Painting with Bob Motherfuckin’ Ross, The Frugal Gourmet, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Everyday Food, Baking With Julia…I could go on and on.

The point is that I, and not just me, grew up on public television during a time when cable wasn’t the norm.  I have such fond memories of these shows because this kind of quality television (which you hardly see on cable TV), helped solidify my particular academic gifts at a very young age.  Whenever people asked why I was so smart (I was reading and writing well before kindergarten), my beloved mother always said, “She watches Sesame Street.”

Enough-motherfuckin’-said.

  1. Dear sibling from another maternal figure,

Either get out of my brain or start paying rent.
